Seasons change, days go by,
Nine months fly by so quick,
Everything ends in a few long hours,
Her screams signal her arrival and I hold her close;
A first day in a bright new world,
With tears in my eyes, I tell her everything is alright.
"Be brave little one, there is so much to see, so much to do,
Hang in there and at the end of it all, I will be there,
To welcome you back into my arms."
Over the ridge, the lights shine on,
Flashing red and signaling yellow,
Slowing to a halt in the early morning light,
The doors swing open and her little hand leaves mine;
A first day in a bright new world,
With tears in my eyes, I tell her everything is alright.
"Be brave little one, there is so much to see, so much to do,
Hang in there and at the end of it all, I will be there,
To welcome you back into my arms."
Bells ring loud, the organ sings,
The church is filled with family and friends,
Down the aisle he stands, waiting with bright smile,
She's his now, a shining angel all dressed in white;
A first day in a bright new world,
With tears in my eyes, I tell her everything is alright.
"Be brave little one, there is so much to see, so much to do,
Hang in there and at the end of it all, I will be there,
To welcome you back into my arms."
Life goes by, ever changing and non-stop,
Friends come and go, but with you, nothing is like before,
Because of you, I dream of the day my heart stops,
The day I see you holding her in your arms.
A first day in a bright new world, your love has changed me,
With tears in my eyes, I see that everything is alright.
If I had any doubts, they faded when you put your lips to my ear:
"Be brave little one, there is so much to see, so much to do,
Hang in there and at the end of it all, I will be there,
To welcome you back into my arms."
