Three years.
Had we really come thus far?
A mile marker for sure,
Two incredible years and one....
...one neither of us would care to bring up.
A year of innocence,
Angelic beauty of youth,
And discovery for us both.
Six months was our set limit....
...but six months was not enough time.
A year of intrigue came next,
Learning each others' limits,
And playfully pushing them to the max.
Who knew a year could come so quickly....
...and go without many memorable moments.
Third time's the charm,
At least that's what they say,
But what happens when one and two,
Complete and leave the number three....
...three, a part of unlucky thirteen.
A trio of years began,
Unlucky from the beginning,
Full of deadly surprises for all involved;
Nine months of heartache and heartbreak....
...a heartbreak nearly ending all we came to know.
Three years we survived,
Trial after trial hurting and strengthening,
Memory after memory building our love.
Twelve months to a year times three....
...plus two more so far this year.
So much time together and apart,
We know each others' wants.
And all I wanted on our anniversary,
Was what I was refused:
Long slow kisses and long stem roses.
